In Joshua 4, Israel was not crossing a gentle stream. The Jordan was overflowing. The water was above them. And God did not tell them to collect stones from the shore, where it was safe.
He commanded them to take stones from the middle: the place of risk, the place of fear, the place where quitting felt reasonable. Those stones became memorials, proof that God met them where they were stretched.
Dominion is never built on comfort. It is built in stretching seasons.
The middle is where faith grows muscles. The middle is where obedience becomes authority. The priests stood in the river holding the Ark, the presence of God, until the people crossed. The Holy Spirit does the same today. He holds you steady while you move forward afraid. He does not remove the pressure; He empowers you inside it.
Jesus echoed this truth when He told the man with the withered hand to stretch. Stretching felt impossible, but healing lived on the other side of obedience. Growth always looks unreasonable before it looks powerful.
If you are in the middle today, tired, unsure, stretched, do not rush through it. Pick up your stone. One day you will point back and say, "This is where I almost quit, and this is where God gave me dominion."
